Rev. Gregory Scott Morris grew up in New Mexico and West Texas. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a B.B.A. in Business Administration. After serving as a tax accountant, he went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a Masters of Christian Education. He began his career in ministry serving Baptist churches, but was called to Bethany Christian Church in Odessa in April of 2014. His plan was to help them out for about a year, but he served there for 7 years instead. Once he experienced the Disciples of Christ denomination, he grew to love it. In 2018 he went through the process of being ordained in the Disciples of Christ. He took classes in Disciples of Christ History and Policies through Philips Disciples of Christ Seminary from 2017 to 2018. He now has full standing in the Southwest Region of the Disciples of Christ. He is married to Judy Morris who began serving as the Music Minister at Bethany Christian Church in 2017, leading the choir and chimes, and planning worship services. Judy retired from teaching music in public schools in 2016. She has a B.M. (Bachelor of Music degree) from Wayland Baptist University, and a M.M. from Texas A&M Commerce. They are excited about their new chapter with First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, and would love for you to visit the church’s new location!

When she and her husband, Bill, returned to Abilene after years of living in other Texas cities, they searched for the church where they knew they should be planted: that was First Christian Church. They found at FCC a community of believers whose lives showed deep commitment to serving God.
Kathy began serving as a church pianist or organist at various churches at the age of 10. Many years ago, God revealed to her that ministering through music was her way to praise God. Being the pianist at FCC allows her to worship God while also reaching the hearts of others in ways beyond that of words

Angel’s new area of ministry has been right up her alley. It involves helping FCC connect with the needs of our community in ways that we are not always attentive to. Angel has a heart to serve God and a big heart to love people with. Her hope is to see the church help one another as our active response to Christ. Service is Life. To Angel serving one another is the way we develop our potential in Christ. Her prayer is to activate FCC people to respond to Christ through Service.
I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could! I grew up in Belleville, Illinois with loving parents. Accepted the Lord as my savior at a young age. I’m the third child of six. I married Randy and we moved to Texas 45 years ago. We have 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, 1 granddaughter, and 1 grandson. I started working at FCC with our Mother’s Day Out program “For Kids Only” what is now called “Children Come First”. I switched from working with children to working in the church office. I have been working in the FCC church office since Fall of 2017. I wouldn’t trade my job here at FCC for anything (except for retirement).
FCC has been so good to me. They are my church family.
I grew up in Midland and moved to Abilene when I enrolled at Abilene Christian University. I graduated with my teaching degree and taught math in Abilene for 40 years. I have two sons, two daughters-in-law and one gorgeous granddaughter named Lyla. I retired in 2021 and came to work at FCC as the bookkeeper. Thank you for welcoming me and for making this job so much fun!

In April of 2023, we came here to FCC Abilene. We know that this is EXACTLY where God wants us to be. One thing that is clear throughout the Bible, there is no better place to be than in the middle of God's will. Even though trials will come, we know that if God is for us that nothing can stand against us. We are excited about the future God has for our family at FCC Abilene!
