Live Services will be provided via our Facebook page.
We publicly confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God and within the universal church we receive the light of the scripture from the Bible, an ecumenical book.
We commit that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world and through baptism into Christ we enter into newness of life and are made one with the whole people of God. In making the great commitment, we work to transform our lives, the lives of others, and our culture as a whole by bringing closer accord with the will of Christ.
We rejoice in God, maker of heaven and earth and in the open communion of the Holy Spirit we are joined together in discipleship. As believers we seek to live out the common faith in praise and service to God.
We join in the covenant of love which binds us to God and one another. Through baptism into Christ we are made one with the whole people of God. At the Table of the Lord we celebrate open communion with thanksgiving the saving acts and presence of Christ.
We accept our mission of witness and service to all people in the name of Christ and by His grace. In the communion of the Holy Spirit we are joined together in discipleship and in obedience to Christ. Within the universal church we receive the gift of ministry.
We yield ourselves to God that we may serve the One whose kingdom has no end in the bonds of Christian faith. Blessing, glory and honor be to God forever.

Rev. Gregory Scott Morris grew up in New Mexico and West Texas. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a B.B.A. in Business Administration. After serving as a tax accountant, he went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a Masters of Christian Education. He began his career in ministry serving Baptist churches, but was called to Bethany Christian Church in Odessa in April of 2014. His plan was to help them out for about a year, but he served there for 7 years instead. Once he experienced the Disciples of Christ denomination, he grew to love it. In 2018 he went through the process of being ordained in the Disciples of Christ. He took classes in Disciples of Christ History and Policies through Philips Disciples of Christ Seminary from 2017 to 2018. He now has full standing in the Southwest Region of the Disciples of Christ. He is married to Judy Morris who began serving as the Music Minister at Bethany Christian Church in 2017, leading the choir and chimes, and planning worship services. Judy retired from teaching music in public schools in 2016. She has a B.M. (Bachelor of Music degree) from Wayland Baptist University, and a M.M. from Texas A&M Commerce. They are excited about their new chapter with First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, and would love for you to visit the church’s new location!
